OSCR

Code of conduct

OSCR is a place where researchers' work is recorded, and where they and others can correct it. That only works with honesty and respect, towards the authors above all.

Where it applies

  • Everything you write in the registry's forms: submissions and their notes, claims and their statements, corrections and their notes, removal requests and their justifications.
  • The project's own spaces: its GitHub issues and pull requests, under the project's code of conduct (the Contributor Covenant, version 2.1).
  • Later, the discussions and reproduction reports the registry will open with its moderation.

What is expected

  • Truthfulness: claim a paper only if you are among its authors, a repository only if you maintain it; give facts you believe accurate.
  • Respect for the authors, their work and their choices, including their licences and their wish to be removed.
  • Care with other people's data: never write someone else's personal details in a form.
  • Good faith: use the removal and correction forms for what they are for.

What is not acceptable

  • impersonating an author, a maintainer or anyone else;
  • false claims, false corrections, or links to what is not the paper's code or data;
  • harassment, insults, threats, or discriminatory language, in any text;
  • publishing, or asking to publish, another person's private information;
  • flooding the forms, or using them to advertise;
  • trying to get around the registry's security or limits.

Towards authors

A missing or dead link is a fact to record, not a fault to denounce. The registry says what it found in neutral words, and asks the same of those who use it: a correction or a note states what is wrong, not who is to blame.

Enforcement

Requests are decided by published rules (the moderation policy), which act at once only on what a requester cannot forge — a verified identity, the paper's own metadata — or, within daily limits, to hide copies of code; the rest waits for the operator, who may refuse it, with a reason, and may reverse what the rules did. Misuse may lead to a role being withdrawn or an account being closed (the terms). In the project's spaces, the Contributor Covenant's guidelines apply.

Reporting

To report conduct in the registry — a false claim, an abusive text, content about you — use the paper's removal request or a correction, as fits, and say what happened. For the project's spaces, open an issue on GitHub. OSCR has no email address.
